Sierra Nevada Celebration is one of the original American holiday IPAs. It was first brewed in 1981 and comes back every winter, and only for the season. It's a fresh hop IPA: every year Sierra Nevada's brewers travel through Washington and Oregon at harvest to hand-pick the hops, then rush them back to the brewery so the beer is brewed within weeks while their aroma is at its peak.
Cascade, Centennial and Chinook hops give it bold citrus and pine with a floral edge, balanced by a rich caramel malt backbone. It's full-bodied but crisp, with a long, hoppy finish. At 6.8% it's a proper winter warmer that still stays fresh and lively, and it goes well with roast meats, spiced dishes and strong cheeses over Christmas.
